Getting Started

What is a Winpriser part code number?

A Winpriser part code can be one of two things:

• UPC – Manufacturer/Allpriser Assigned

When the price catalogue you are using in Catalogue Lookup is an Allpriser catalogue, i.e. RedBook, the phrase "part code" refers to the product item’s UPC (Universal Product Code) code. Where available, this is the all numeric UPC code assigned by the manufacturer. If there is no manufacturer assigned UPC code, Allpriser generates a code that begins with three alphabetic characters (i.e. RED00000123).

• User Assigned

When the price catalogue you are using in Catalogue Lookup is a user-created supplement catalogue, the phrase "part code" refers to the part number that you have assigned to the product item, i.e. SKU or special identifier that means something to you.

What is an inventory number?

Winpriser allows you to assign a second part number to items in both Allpriser and supplementary catalogues. We call this the item’s inventory number. The inventory number is useful when you want to make use of your own part numbering system and for using Winpriser to control inventory amounts in the QuickBooks accounting system.

The inventory number is assigned by double clicking on the Inventory# line of the Catalogue Normal Properties View.

Open the Redbook Catalogue Lookup window. If you are not sure how to open the Redbook Catalogue Lookup window refer to:

Locating a Product Item by Part Code

1 Click on the Group tab. From the Catalogue Lookup menu, select the menu option Item | Find Part Number.

When the Item | Find Part Number menu option is selected, the Part Code Search window appears on you monitor:

The Part Code Search window is used to quickly locate a specific catalogue part code. A Search Key data field is provided to allow you to enter a part code. The Search Method allows you to indicate whether you are searching for a UPC code or an Inventory#.

The data grid under the Search Key field is a table to display the contents of the price catalogue. This data table has 4 columns:

Code – UPC or user-defined part identifier.

Inventory# – User-defined "second" part number.

Description – Catalogue item description.

Prev. Code – If this item’s part code has been revised, this field will contain the old part code.

Use the horizontal scroll bar at the bottom of this data table to bring unseen columns into view.

2 Click in the circle beside "Search by UPC". Click inside the Search Key field and enter the number "66831202080" as follows:

3 Press the Enter key on your keyboard. Do not press Apply.

Winpriser will search its database for the specified Search Key and show you the product item that it has found in the catalogue data table. When you click on the Apply button, the Catalogue Lookup window will be refreshed with the new product information for the selected item. To remove the Part Code Search window from view, click on the X symbol in the window’s caption bar.

You can enter all or part of the part code that you are trying to locate. For example, if you specified a Search Key of "668", the search engine would take you to the first price catalogue item having a part code beginning with "668".

Locating a Product Item by Inventory Number

Be sure to click in the circle beside "Search by Inventory#" and enter a valid user-assigned inventory number in the Search Key field.
